Michaela Höll

Senior Associate

Michaela is a Senior Associate, specialising in commercial litigation and dispute resolution. Michaela obtained her BA (Law) and LLB degrees at the University of Pretoria, graduating with distinction in 2018. She tackles a wide array of complex litigation matters, providing clients with expert legal counsel and representation. Her dedication to delivering effective solutions and achieving favourable outcomes for clients is at the core of her practice principles.

Outside of the legal realm, Michaela is a firm believer in the importance of maintaining a healthy mind and body. You will often find her at the gym, dedicating time to exercise and proper self-care. She firmly believes that a disciplined and healthy lifestyle not only benefits her, but also reflects her commitment to discipline and excellence in both her professional and personal life.

John Makate

Associate

LLB (University of South Africa)

John is an Associate at the firm and an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa. He holds an LLB from the University of South Africa and has contributed to matters of significant importance before the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court of Appeal, and various High Courts.

His practice focuses on public interest litigation, media law, public law, dispute resolution, and the protection of fundamental rights and press freedom. John has particular experience in matters engaging constitutional rights, freedom of expression, and the responsible exercise of legal process.

Having completed advocacy training through the Black Lawyers Association, John brings a rigorous and analytical approach to litigation and legal strategy. His practice is grounded in a firm commitment to the Rule of Law, the protection of clients’ rights, and the pursuit of principled and effective remedies.

Outside of practice, John enjoys chess and travelling.

Sinazo Magadlela

Attorney

Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT)

Sinazo is an admitted attorney practising in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) practice area.

Sinazo has experience advising clients on the compliance, regulatory and commercial aspects of media and communications, data privacy, cybersecurity and consumer protection. She also has a keen interest in the intersection of these aspects with emerging technologies.

In addition to her TMT experience, Sinazo has litigation experience and has advised clients on commercial disputes and administrative law matters. She has multi-jurisdictional experience and has advised clients across Southern and Eastern Africa.

Sinazo is also reading towards an LLM in Information and Communications Law at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Outside of practice, Sinazo enjoys watching sport and travelling.

Kiara Dhanpall

Candidate Attorney

LLB (University of South Africa)

Kiara is a Candidate Attorney at the firm, with a focus on civil and commercial litigation as well as dispute resolution. Her experience includes assisting with complex civil and commercial disputes, insurance matters, public liability claims, contractual disputes, motion proceedings and general High Court litigation. She has also gained experience in matters involving defamation, media law and labour disputes.

Kiara holds an LLB degree and is currently completing her practical vocational training and professional examinations towards admission as an attorney. She is particularly passionate about medical law and litigation, and enjoys the challenge of navigating complex legal issues.

Outside of the law, Kiara dedicates her time to being mentally strong and physically fit while enjoying good food and new experiences.
